Jardines del Sol

So once upon a time Dorothy and Gerry came to live in Javea and lived in Apartment 4, in the Jardines del Sol apartment block in Javea Port.

When Gerry died Dorothy moved to live next door in Apartment 5, which was a one-bed-roomed apartment with a large terrace. This was in Jo’s name.

Then we purchased Apartment 6, again a one bed-roomed  apartment in Tony’s name and rented it out

When Dorothy died we decided to put in place our long term plan to combine apartments 5 and 6. Using Paco Catala, the architect, and Miguel’s small building company off we went on a wing and a prayer.

Chaos happened when we knocked down the dividing wall, removed one of the front doors, built a new enlarged kitchen, converted the other kitchen to a study/library, removed one of the fireplaces to enable a wardrobe to be built in the main bedroom, re-tiled the two inside nayas, converted a bathroom into a shower room, installed matching new terrace doors in apartment 6 and replaced a window with matching doors onto the terrace from the main bedroom, and put in a dual air-conditioning and heating system throughout. And probably some other stuff we’ve forgotten – and what happened in photos see Blimey we’re too old to be doing this.

Then when done and the inside complete –  Wow.

and without taking a breath it was then time to combine the two terraces, where we used Paco to design the terrace and Tony the Spanish gardener to design the trees and plants. So a much lower wall needed to be removed and using a mixture of new tiles and artificial grass create a new Garden Terrace which in area was actually bigger than the apartment.

OK so how did it look after the landscaping?

BIG WOW!

One more push in June 2019 let’s bring the main furniture from Jesus Pobre. May as well use the crane – it worked last time

Voila. All done

But not quite

The all that was needed was to move the best furniture from El Garroferet to the apartment and the apartment furniture we didn’t want off to Jesus Pobre. So out came the crane again and the move began and this is how it looked afterwards.

and the Finished Interior

We had really arrived and started to live there almost full time.

By the way this is how Javea Port looked like once upon a time

We had taken various photos of the Port in 2018 -2022

Then we had a storm ‘Gloria’ in January 2020

Here are some photos from the terrace in 2020 our first year living there and then some photos taken over the years

Here are some videos  in January 2021 – long but do explore the two sea areas of our little town, the Port and the Arenal

and a promotional video  which gives some different views and information
