Some years ago I started a two year exercise to trace the ancestors of my father and mother. Although I did not find famous or wealthy people I did trace many interesting individuals.
My one disappointment was while researching my grandfather on my father’s side, who was born to a coal manager’s daughter, I found he was illegitimate. There is a possibility I’m not a Henderson at all!
He was born in 1872 near Newcastle and I’m assured by my ex-wife, whose parents lived in the area, that many Spanish came to work in the mines about that time. I’ve always wondered why my father and I both tanned very easily. Perhaps that’s the answer.
The thousand + people comprising my extended family tree can be found on the Ancestry site. Here’s a summary of my direct links which shows I traced relatives back to before the middle of the 18th Century.
